A 9 night cruise of Northern Scotland starting at Fort William and ending in Inverness. We will explore Scotland’s west & north coast and waters before heading down the East Coast to Inverness. All the while taking in all the highlights of the NC 500 from our unique perspective on board. En route we will visit a variety of ports & harbours, scenic landmarks and iconic attractions. See the Cruise Options tab for more details.
Food & Drink
We include breakfast, lunch and dinner each day of your cruise. Our cook will use the finest locally sourced produce, fresh from suppliers to deliver mouthwatering dishes.
Dinner will be the main meal of the day and will be served between 6pm and 7pm in sheltered anchorage or in harbour. If we are still on the move we can dine if the water is calm or wait until we reach sheltered waters. The other meals of the day require more flexibility as the boat may be moving depending on our schedule for the day.
An honesty bar with wines, beers and spirits will be available.
Scotland’s waters and coasts are a playground for a wide variety of wildlife from minke whales & porpoises to puffins and sea eagles. Binoculars and cameras are recommended.
At the start of each cruise the captain will meet with the all of the guests to discuss the planned route for your cruise which will take into account tides and weather. We will endeavour to visit some of Scotland’s finest distilleries, castles and attractions from suitable nearby mooring.
Walking & Mountaineering
There will be plenty of opportunity to explore Scotland’s hills and mountains so bring along your walking/hiking equipment.
The nature of our cruises is to provide a “theme” and to make the most of the options available to us based on weather, tides, access and things like local events & festivals. As a guide, this is a sample itinerary of what this cruise could include:
Day 1: Arrive at Nova Spero in Fort William (Corpach) by early afternoon and get settled in before we set of for a late afternoon cruise down Loch Linnhe and Loch Leven to Kinlochleven, passing Glencoe en route. We spend a night at anchor in Kinlochleven.
Day 2: After breakfast we set off for Tobermory or if the weather is in our favour we might reach Mallaig for our 2nd night.
Day 3: After breakfast we head for Kyle of Lochalsh or perhaps up to Portree on the Isle of Skye for the night.
Day 4: Today’s destination is Ullapool on Scotland’s north west coast.
Days 5 -7: We will cruise our way around Cape Wrath to Duncansby Head.
Depending on weather and time, we may stop in Loch Torridon ( Shieldaig).
After passing Sandwood Bay and the famous Sea Stack Am Buchaille who knows we might have very fine weather to head up to Stromness and pass the Old Man of Hoy for a final full run through the Pentland Firth this year.
Day 8: We leave Stromness for Wick where we can visit the Old Pulteney Whisky Distillery. It might be possible to reach Scrabster as an alternative, weather dependent.
Day 9: We have options today: sail down the East Coast or we can cross the Moray Firth to Buckie, or if all in agreement we can head straight for Inverness – the choice is yours! We will overnight in Inverness.
Day 10: After breakfast we disembark at leisure.
If you require transport back to Fort William, we can provide prices for onward executive travel. Please note that this is not included in the cruise price.
