Join us for our
North Sea to North Atlantic Cruise including 3 Distilleries
This fantastic cruise takes you from Inverness around Scotland’s north coast to Orkney, around Cape Wrath onward to Lewis & St Kilda before making our way back to Inverness via the Caledonian Canal. En route we will visit 3 famous malt whisky distilleries.
A 15 night cruise of Scotland and some of its famous whisky distilleries starting and ending in Inverness. We will navigate Scotland’s waters in an anti-clockwise direction up the East coast to the Orkneys before heading down the West Coast and back home via the Caledonian Canal. En route we will visit a variety of ports & harbours, scenic landmarks and iconic attractions. See the Cruise Options tab for more details.
Food & Drink
We include breakfast, lunch and dinner each day of your cruise. Our cook will use the finest locally sourced produce, fresh from suppliers to deliver mouthwatering dishes.
Dinner will be the main meal of the day and will be served between 6pm and 7pm in sheltered anchorage or in harbour. If we are still on the move we can dine if the water is calm or wait until we reach sheltered waters. The other meals of the day require more flexibility as the boat may be moving depending on our schedule for the day.
An honesty bar with wines, beers and spirits will be available.
Scotland’s waters and coasts are a playground for a wide variety of wildlife from minke whales & porpoises to puffins and sea eagles. Binoculars and cameras are recommended.
At the start of each cruise the captain will meet with the all of the guests to discuss the planned route for your cruise which will take into account tides and weather. We will endeavour to visit some of Scotland’s finest distilleries, castles and attractions from suitable nearby mooring.
Walking & Mountaineering
There will be plenty of opportunity to explore Scotland’s hills and mountains so bring along your walking/hiking equipment.
The nature of our cruises is to provide a “theme” and to make the most of the options available to us based on weather, tides, access and things like local events & festivals. As a guide, this is a sample itinerary of what this cruise could include:
Day 1: Join Nova Spero by mid-afternoon in Inverness and settle in for the night.
Day 2: We leave the canal and proceed to Wick for an overnight stay. When we’ve arrived we’ll visit the Old Pulteney Distillery and Wick Heritage centre
Day 3: We set sail for Stromness for our third evening.
Day 4: We have time to explore some of Orkney’s attractions including perhaps Skara Brae, The Cave of the Eagles, Highland Park or Scapa Whisky Distilleries
Day 5 & 6: We will leave The Orkneys via The Sound of Hoy with a run past the Old Man Of Hoy close enough to get some good pictures. We then sail around Cape Wrath before we make for Stornoway.
Alternative: if weather Gods really on our side and your sealegs are good we will head for North Rona and take a run past Sula Sgeir see how Guga live there. Ideally we may stay a night at anchor at North Rona.
Day 7: We leave early in morning for St Kilda passing The Flannan Isles. Overnight at St Kilda.
Day 8: We spend the day on St Kilda. It is highly recommend that if weather is on our side that after dinner you visit Island and max time on Hirta main Island .
Day 9: Another day to explore the Island and if back before evening we may take a run past the sea stacks and see how the Guga live here. We may even be able to land on stacks – a very exciting and rare adventure!
Days 10 & 11: Our return from St Kilda takes us through The Sound of Harris and we we may have time for a visit to Talisker Distillery on the Isle of Skye.
Day 12: An overnight run back to Corpach for lock in to the Caledonian Canal.
Days 13-15: Caledonian Canal transit back to Inverness via Neptune’s Staircase, Fort Augustus, Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. This section of the cruise lets you enjoy the more sheltered waters of this great waterway, with a complimentary dram or two maybe of Old Pulteney from the spirit world.
Day 16: After breakfast, disembark at leisure.
